Nothing pings you on that morning. The obligation simply becomes overdue, sixty days later the state may administratively dissolve the company, and every notice along the way goes to whatever address is sitting on the agent line of your record.

Day 366 of a free agent year behaves the same way. Nothing else falls due, no envelope turns up from Cheyenne, and no part of the operation changes shape. The only event is a charge whose size you have not seen.

Two dates, neither announced, both landing on whoever is paying attention. Which is a fair description of what a registered agent is for.

Post the form two or three weeks before your free year expires, leave Inc Authority in place while it travels, and keep an eye on the public register until it shows us in the agent position. Cancel after that. Throughout the wait the record still points at them, and a record pointing at a service nobody is paying is the one arrangement genuinely worth avoiding.
