What Wyoming Means by a Commercial Registered Agent

Worth knowing which category your provider actually occupies here, because Wyoming keeps a formal one.

The state recognizes a distinct status for a commercial registered agent: an entity or an individual serving in the role for more than ten companies, which must enter the state's register before it can do so. Below that threshold you are simply an agent. Above it, Wyoming wants you listed.

Everyone selling agent service nationally sits on the far side of that line, ourselves included, and the register is a small piece of accountability that most states do not trouble with. It means the state holds a current record of who is carrying thousands of appointments and where they can be found.

The rest of the standard applies to all of them equally. The registered office must be a Wyoming street address staffed by the agent, or by a natural person under an agency relationship with that agent, who is genuinely on site and able to take delivery. Where the agent is a company rather than a person, that agency relationship has to exist in writing with a named human being. Wyoming is unusually insistent that a summons ends up in somebody's hands rather than inside a system.
